The new company will be called Lincoln Financial Group. While Greensboro will lose the corporate headquarters to Philadelphia, Greensboro will have the base headquarters for the insurance sector of the company. Thats actually a good thing consider that Lincoln is a major U.S. finanacial services company. So to have a name like that tied to Greensboro will be a good thing. Lincoln will even add more jobs in Greensboro over time.

on the surface it sound like bad news because Greensboro will be losing a "corporate" headqaurters but its good for the city in the long run and the city can identify itself with the name of a major finanancial institution.

It's good to see that Lincoln National is acknowledging the effect that the merger will have on the local economy. It might just be lip-service, but at least it shows that they are cognizant that local economies can be seriously compomised by mergers - just look at Winston-Salem over the last 20 years...

in the short term that way happen but overtime the company promises to add jobs in Greensboro as the city becomes the main headquarters for the insurance sector of the company. The news and record was saying some time ago that Lincoln would actullay need more office space downtown. so there could be the potential for an office development at some point in the future.
