There is a proposal to convert the 10-story Midland Bank building into a 35-story, 200-room hotel plus 135 condos . According to the MPLS.-STPL. Business Journal, the new tower named 401 Hotel and Residences will have a 13-story ramp topped by a 35-story tower. The proposal also includes a restaurant on the first floor. The B.J. states that the devlopers, Hempel Properties and Morrissey Hospitality, are going before the city for approvals in the next three weeks and plan on breaking ground this summer.

Wow, another hotel. This is the sign that business is turning around. After workign at hotels in theis city for 5 years I'm glad to see so much interest. All these new hotel projects could help the push for the olympics here in the Twin Cities. With hotels oppiancy rates at over 70% there needs to be an increase in available rooms.

Anyone have anoy other renditionings of the project (something more high-rez).
