You are smack off the mark when you say that Baroque chamber music and classical architecture didn't exist at the same time--of course they did! The classical was slowly undone by picturesque eclecticism (the application of gargoyles on Notre Dame, for example) and pseudo-scientific historicism (the "Gothik" Revival), beginning in the late 18th century and coming to a cultural train wreck in the late 19th / early 20th century, when the insanity of World War I enabled a bunch of nihilistic socialists to package and sell "Modernism." The Ecole des Beaux Arts was alive and well, at least in America, well into the 20th century. That's classical architecture, yo, and it passes "classical music" in about the second lap. Word!

But you are smack ON the mark, in my opinion, when you say that it would be impossible to erect a classical skyscraper--or at least it would be very, very, difficult. It would require some very creative massing and a structural vocabulary with no words to spare. The Human Scale, and all that. That's why, in the end, my wife and I thought it was funny that you chose classical music for the video. But I do not believe even for a second my post will, or even should, prompt you to change it. You are the professional, not I!

So there you have it - right or wrong from the fellow watching the video.

You are actually referring to NeoClassical architecture in the 1700-1800s and moving forward. It is all a nod to true classical architecture from the Greeks/Romans. Which is what I was saying - real classical architecture was from a totally different time frame then the music of Bach.

But we are just splitting hairs - I understand your statements. But again, it wasn't about matching period music, it was mood and demographic target. Everyone has different opinions - music is the hardest part of putting together a video.

Ok...

I LOVE the Sig... I LOVE the interior "look" of the units, as shown in the video and in the picture gallery. However, I have to agree with NewTowner. I also found the music to be totally out of place. The building has enough of a modern edge (especially the interior, with the sleek kitchen, and contemporary furnishings) to make the classical music really feel out of place. Its almost like they are trying to convince people that its this really refined space (not implying that it isn't). But it feels forced. Persoanlly, I think some smooth jazz would have been a MUCH MUCH better match.

Again, the video is great, the building is great, a GREAT job was done by all... which I guess explains why we'd only have the music to nitpick over.. heheheheheh

I assure you on the video trailer we should start on this week - upbeat music. Even then, someone won't like it.....LOL.

I think one thing that was good about the music and the tie in may have been the fact that it was the Nashville symphony performing and could have been used to tie in the new symphony hall. The fact that you could walk to the symphony from the tower. I did think it was a little out of place but was aimed direct at the market that may be buying there.

Very perceptive, you obviously read the credits and noticed the ending shot location. I was wondering if anyone else noticed.

I guess we'll have to use a Nashville country band on the next one? Or we could export Elvis from Memphis again - at least the dancing character if not the music (EP Enterprises would charge us an arm and a pelvis for music usage). FYI- the trailer we created last fall had Elvis in a cameo role.

Maybe we'll take a poll on music for the new trailer....LOL. Though Tony G has the final say....maybe hip hop?

If all goes well, tomorrow sometime.

These won't be exact views as we had wanted as all of the regional helicopter pilots refused to drop down to the lower levels for the shoot. Where is a good and crazy pilot when you need one?

Anyway, they'll give you a reasonable idea of the views from high - I noticed that Trump had to do the same thing with a project in Chicago.

Well, it would scare the **** out of me if I were walking on Church and saw a helicopter drop down that low. Understandable why a pilot wouldn't do it. Sounds cool tho.

Yeah, I didn't want to go up in the chopper either - selfish of them though, right?

Convection and turbulance are a real problem in downtown areas.

Putting safety before good photos - what is up with that? LOL :rofl:

Ok, So I asked this question once before when the Sig was only 55 floors, and the original height of whatever. Now that it has been changed I am once again compelled to bring it up. Now that the building is gaining/will gain much more national attention, not to mention height, would it be possible to have an observation deck??? Would this not be a great addition to the building?? I understand that they are very expensive to keep up, but Nashville has a huge tourist market, and locals will be going up this thing for awhile!! Why not put a really hip, modern bar at the top with outrageously priced drinks to bring in some revenue, plus a gift shop, deli, ........... I mean it's gonna be great to look at it from the bottom, but let people go in it and feel like it's more a part of their city rather than this giant fortress that sits well guarded in the middle of downtown? Any thoughts?

Doubt it. Even though it would be the most amzingly cool place in the entire state. I would pay $$$$ to go to the "Signature UltraLounge"

Is the Signature Tower a project that is getting ready to break ground, or do they have to sell a certain number of units before they will commit to building it?

As far as I know, Tony is still planning a January ,06 ground breaking. I spoke to William about this and he said that even if the sales move forward the project will still not start till then.

I once had a helicopter pilot fly me underneath one of the interstate bridges spanning the Cumberland river downtown. I'm sure he could have gotten you the shots you needed...

Anyway, a cool place (a la Ghost Bar at the Palms in Vegas) would be sweet on the 60+ floor of ST. There would be a line around the block to get in.

For all of you ready to purchase, there is now a Reservation page on the website - fill out the form and go see Tony G.

Over 1000 people have registered for information - not bad.

Units that have already been reserved should start showing up online tomorrow sometime. That phase started Saturday.
