Top 10 "Oil-Independent" cities

Interesting article which ranks the nation's cities in their ability to sustain an oil crisis.

Density, low sprawl and a real transit system seem to be the best qualifiers.

It makes some assumptions like telecommuting would still be an option in the event of global energy woes, even if we could not generate enough electricity to run all of the computers.

Yah, they must be talking about a short term crisis, because otherwise the number one city would be.....Mackinac Island?
