The majority of downtown residencies charge for parking anyway. My apartment outside of downtown charges $45/mo for our ramp (though I choose the economical free street parking). I know people living in the CBD paying $100/mo for covered. I would bet that a valet service will be included for the residents of the BC.

it could be a lot worse. my dad, who used to live in downtown chicago had to pay 25k for a parking spot in his condo. there was still a monthly fee and nobody parked his car for him.

Goes to say that you have to be rich to live in downtowns. Where do low-icome downtown residents park, and do they pay for their parking too?

Not sure about Detroit, but people that can't afford long-term, assured parking in garages usually just park on the street if city ordinances allow it.

Or they don't own a car and borrow a friend's when they absolutely need one.

A poll was done not too long ago asking people if they considered themselves to be middle class, and something like 80% (I don't remember the exact percentage) considered themselves to be middle class, when the real percentage is a lot less.

250K isn't middle class (it's not mega rich either, I don't think), especially for what you're getting in some of these things.

But there is cheap(er) housing in downtown and midtown, it just doesn't get talked about here because there's nothing to say about it.
