Greater Greenville Economic Developments

There will only be four to five employees in Greenville. The rest will be located throughout North America. Their headquarters will be located off of Pelham Road near Michelin.

That's not what has been reported, at least that I have seen. What has been reported is that a large number of people will travel throughout North America to project sites. Those people will be based here, at the headquarters.

A lot of news organizations have said that, but it's not true unfortunately. There will be between four and six employees at the Greenville office while the rest will be based throughout North America at customer sites. The Greenville News is one of the few media outlets that did get it right: http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20...7/1003/BUSINESS

Almost all of the 250 employees will work at customer sites, and the company will likely have just five or six employees in Greenville, Buhling said.

Right now, it has four employees in its office in the East Park office complex off of Pelham Road, and six others in the field, she said.

Even with the stock market in free fall, Fluor corp continues to pump right along. Be happy if you own Fluor stock....it was up 10% this past week and it's future continues to be bright, thanks to the huge amount of engineering projects in the 800 billion, "porkulus, welfare-ulus", I mean stimulus.

Greenville is one of six candidates to land Carbon Motors according to this article: http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20...SINESS/90303011

Here is the press release article from Carbon Motors: http://carbonmotors.com/news-releases/76/C...w-American-Jobs

-Obviously, I want them to choose Greenville but even if they chose Georgia or North Carolina instead I could see them tapping into ICAR and the auto manufacturers already located here.

The entire Carbon Motors website looks much better....expanded and revamped.

I was looking through the website and clicked on the "blog" portion. This part of the website has additional info on the 5 states they are looking at.....pros and cons are listed. Good read.

Greenville will get the big Karate tourament in July 2010.

Ten thousand people expected for the event. Five thousand athletes and another 5,000 fans, officials and family. Seems like a big deal. There is a 4 million dollar direct impact predicted.

Jake Lease, director of events for the karate organization, commenting -

"Greenville has the infrastructure to be able to handle the event," he said. And it's a fun city to visit, he said, citing downtown and its central location."

It aint gonna happen...I wish it did but you know how all these companies are, they want say Greenville, and Greensboro are the final picks, then they choose Greensboro!!! I think they do that so they can get a large incentive package...

I hope we are wrong, but I have to agree with this. It seems like Gville has gone up against Gsborro for a few projects over the past 5-10 years, and they seem to always win out.

Throwing in the towel without even knowing the project? :shok:

If UP ever gets together for flag football, you're quarterback for the competing team.

Come DL, get some positive spunk man!

Looks like Bi-Lo is filing for bankruptcy. I guess they finally met their match with Publix.

I really hope they're able to pull out of it. They're the only place that I can get canned crowder peas that don't have seasoning or fatback in them.

:P Yeah, I know. I do tend to be a little skeptical on here sometimes. But I also try to call em like I see em, whether it's with a positive or a negative tilt. And I have had some pretty major stressors recently, so you guys are kinda the "beneficiaries" of my resulting cynicism. :P
