and than go into portfolio area. Genesis Studios is located in Altamonte Springs. :whistling:

Don't know how active this really is. This has been discussed on UP periodically over the last couple of years, but this is the first time i found a rendering of it. And looks like Genesis Studios have done alot of Orlando projects. Just surf through the Portfolio area and see alot of thier work.

there website claims that the building they plan to develop is just over 17 stories and has a needle. this rendering is much taller.

The WTCOrlando website has stated that for years now. So that information is obviously outdated. And i find it hard to believe that there is a 17 story tower that can be seen from all over Orlando even with a space needle.

The license holder for World Trade Center Orlando, is dedicated to working developing a new Class A office facility.

The World Trade Center Orlando facility will feature 300,000 square feet of Class A office space, and will be headquarters for some of Central Florida

THis is a glass version of the Chicago Board of Trade. I like it if that is what the design will be. PCL-- aren't they doing 55W?

God, I wish I knew somebody at PCL. If this gets built at the OCCC, that area will start to look like Century City with a twist, or that area in Houston where Transco is, or Perimeter Center in the ATL.

We need input from JAybee on this.

I don't buy it. "Downtown" suggests urban. In that case, we only have one.

Ha ha ha, i hope you dont suggest that downtown Orlando is more urban than I-Drive, Millenea area. I would argue the opposite, yet the whole metro lacks any sort of real urban enviroments... Call me spoiled by Japan, but its the reality.

Downtown Orlando is as urban as we have in the area at the moment. And with the current plans and construction we are seeing, can only get better. I just dont think something as spread out as an I-Drive or "Downtown" Orange County, can ever seriously be considered urban, but rather more of a business convention center area, similar to how Downtown Disney and City Walk is for tourists. Just as I wouldn't consider the strip in Vegas to be an urban environment.

AND..We have way more homeless people downtown than I-Drive! -_-

...which of course is a well known urbanism metric :)

:huh: How can you argue that? There is nothing urban about the I-Drive area, unless we're defining urbanity by massive resort hotels and cheap t-shirt shops. Not to imply downtown Orlando is a beacon of urbanity, but it's far moreso than I-Drive.

Well yeah if you're measuring it against Tokyo, you could argue that most of America falls into that category by those standards, but Orlando's doing fairly well in the urban category, for it's size. It's no Tokyo (or even a Miami) to be sure, but it's nothing to sniff at either.

And the I-Drive/Millenia area is very urban (again, for a city Orlando's size). Take a picture at night and see all the pretty lights. It's packed over there. CityMark and Blue Rose will add to that a fair bit.

Regardless if you consider it a downtown, it will be hard not to concede that Orlando will have 3 skylines - LBV (though that's fairly small) I-Drive and of course DT Orlando.

LBV definitely has a lot of mid-rise buildings. You may not want to say fairly small, because they have a decent amount of tall buildings there. I would say that it is spread out too much to make a major visual impact, though.

Absolutely right. There is nothing urban about millinia ... it is the epitomy of SUB - urban, a giant sea of cars. As far as I Drive goes, it's a 24-hour parking lot ... nothing urban there. What was that guy talking about?

That guy was talking about the fact that there is nothing in the entire metro that would be considered urban and the fact that if I lived in I-drive I could walk to everything that I would ever need. Entertainment, Shopping, Movies, work if I worked somewhere there, wide array of dining.... stuff that downtown lacks. And its all withing a few miles of each other. Its probably the most "together" place in the whole metro... thats all I am saying ese....
