Shreveport-Bossier City Photo of the Day

Recommended Posts

this is kinda off the subject, (nice photos btw, sbc), but, how's the copeland's cheesecake construction coming?

I actually have shots of that, which I'll post since you asked. But it appears to be coming along well now. They're building out a whole new facade, and while it's not finished, you can tell by the design that it's going to look nice... I'd even venture to say nicer than the Copeland's in south Shreveport.

In the second of the two photos I posted, on the left-hand side of the photo you can see a guy in a lift bucket... he's actually working on the Copeland's project.

This was my first time in the Boardwalk since Build-A-Bear, Banana Republic, Stride Rite, Samsonite, Nike, and some others opened, so everything looked great to me. One thing I noticed - and you'll see in one of the photos below - was that they are hiring for the Copeland's, so that's always a good sign that the opening date can't be far behind.

Anyway, here are some photos of that construction site:

I really like the way the bridge blends in to the Boardwalk fabric. The fact that radio stations would set up at the Boardwalk would be another reason to stamp sucess. Good idea.

Yeah, the radio stations are a great addition. They are set up in the "entertainment district" area and can directly interact with the nightclubs for promotions and help to coordinate live music acts. The radio stations do add positively to the mix, and the DJs have an awesome view out their windows.

The bridge also does work in very well, especially since the kids' playing fountain is underneath. It creates a nice shaded area as well as a good central area to have public restrooms, soda machines, etc.

Is that Copeland's the same compnay as the other restaurant? I haven't heard of this branch of it before.

Yeah it's the same company. Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro is a very new concept. I believe they opened one in Baton Rouge and one in the New Orleans area a while back. From what I can tell, it's still basically a normal Copeland's, but with a livelier bar scene and cheesecakes. There's already a Copeland's in southeast Shreveport so this will make a nice addition.

So this hasn't starting occuring outside Louisiana yet?

Actually that was last time I looked. According to their website, they now have Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro locations in the following areas:

Baton Rouge, LA

New Orleans, LA - opening soon

Metairie, LA (New Orleans suburb)

Bossier City, LA - coming soon

Atlanta, GA

Richmond, VA

So to answer you, it looks like they have in fact opened a couple outside of Louisiana, but only in Atlanta and Richmond so far.

Copeland's has a restaurant in my metro and I think recently it surpassed a restaurant in the Little Rock metro as the top grossing restaurant in the state. I imagine a Cheesecake Bistro would do well too. Although I'm not sure if they're ready to open one in our metro anytime soon.

I've been to Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro a couple of times and it is very good. It has a nice atmosphere, with large portions, and delicious cheesecake. :P Of course, I don't think most of the things on the menu are below 11 or 12 dollars, but it's good so it's worth it. :)

Sounds like Copeland's in general, because the regular Copeland's restaurants are priced like that. But they don't focus on cheesecake. They do have a great white chocolate bread pudding, though!!! :D I've heard that the best white chocolate bread pudding is at the Palace Cafe in New Orleans.

Whether or not Copeland's opens a Cheesecake Bistro in your region, if you don't already have a Cheesecake Factory I'd expect to see one of those built there. Ever since going to the one in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, I've wanted one here. I'll keep my fingers crossed but I'm NOT going to hold my breath!! :)

There's been rumors of a Cheesecake Factory but there hasn't been anything beyond that so far. So I guess if that doesn't pan out then maybe we will get one. But then again things seem to be changing so much I never know what will be coming in the near future.

^ Your Barksdale photos are awesome, man. Very well done. I'd like to get over to Mike Woods Park sometime myself. Last time I was there, I was doing the Holiday in Dixie treasure hunt a couple years back. Obviously it was on the riverfront as usual, not at Mike Woods!

I live right off the base, but the planes rarely fly this direction. They mostly fly over Bossier City, over my old neighborhood. If I still lived over there (not happening!!) I'd have a good chance of capturing some.

  • 1 month later...

It's about time I got back to my hobby of urban photography. I just need a better lens before I get too far back into it.

Anyway, let's bring this thread back to life! Anyone got something to add? Please... feel free. Until then....

Shreveport CBD skyline from atop the Horseshoe Casino parking deck. There was a really bright light source to my immediate left and over my head, so it really screwed with my shots. There are a couple little problems with this shot but it was the best I could do with that amount of light all around me. :D

Anyway, please enjoy...

One more for now! :D

Shreveport's riverfront skyline at night, in all its neon glory. :) I could kick myself for not capturing more of the water, because it is so gorgeous with all the neon reflecting off it. But next time I will capture it. I was having a hard time because the tripod wouldn't sit well on the sloped surface and I didn't want to mess with leveling it out. So I sat my camera up on the 5th floor ledge (yeah, I know, SMART move, genius!) and used my lens cap to achieve the desired angle. In this case had I left the lens cap off, I probably would have captured exactly what I was trying to.

Cool, I'll be checking your webshots account.

My wife has a coworker who's going down to Baton Rouge for the game as well. I wish I were going.
