Shreveport-Bossier City Photo of the Day

Shreveport convention center at night. I had to fix it a bit.. it was crooked bad!

Hey, I recognize that view! :)

I haven't taken any shots up there at night yet because there's no security monitoring that garage like at the casino garages, and I feel it's a good place for undesirables to hide out at night when there are no events going on at the center.

Cool shot, though, and I understand about having to fix crooked shots... I have to do that a lot myself. My nighttime skyline shot I took from Horseshoe recently was crooked and I had to fix it in Photoshop.

I recently discovered deviantart.com - I have a photo gallery on here as well. If you search by keyword for Shreveport, there are pages of beautiful photos of the SBC area - here's a link:

I'm sure it's a constantly growing collection. Enjoy!

Very cool, I'll check that out! I've been to Deviant Art before but there wasn't a whole lot for Shreveport. There are probably more pictures on there now.

Nice panos, woob! Looks like you've been up on the Horseshoe garage as well.

I also like your CenturyTel Center pano. That shot just shows me, though, that while we have decent support for our hockey team, if the area REALLY supported it they wouldn't have to curtain off the upper deck during games.

that was on a weeknight and during the State fair... The mudbugs have one of the highest attendances of all the teams in the league.. but yeah the league only avgerages about 3,000 a game.. the century tel center holds like 13,000 lol so it looks a little empty!

I knew the Bugs always had good attendance for the leagues they've been in, but this shot had me a bit concerned that maybe the attendance numbers were dropping. Actually I'd say that's great for it being a weeknight and a State Fair night. Not bad at all.

Again, nice shots, man!

I'll take the camera back again on a friday night

the top is never opened now.. I think if they sell around 6,000 they call it a sell out for league standards.

I guess for league standards that is good. And really, that's better than I ever thought hockey would do in this region!

Very cool, take some more pics, man! I love CTC and I enjoy seeing it in photos. I haven't been in there in QUITE a while.

Construction is coming along nicely out at the Provenance TND south of Shreveport.

Here's a shot of a house and the main fountain through a porte-cachere in the Windrush Village, or Provenance town square, area:

And the first row of houses is coming along nicely, with a couple of gaps in between until someone buys the lots:

Wow! What a beautiful neighborhood development it's turning out to be. I've been a big proponent of TNDs since Seaside, Florida. I hope the concept proves to be popular in Shreveport.

Thanks for the pics update, Brian.

Yeah I love TNDs. Island Park is another example of an excellent one, and I will try to get by there and get some new shots before long.

For the hell of it, here are the other two I uploaded today:

Yeah, it's definitely got a European feel. I know you don't live over here anymore, but I wonder how long it's been since you've been out the Ellerbe Road area. You may or may not have seen the Southern Loop off I-49 and how fast that area is still developing. Yes it's sprawl, but some of it is still within the city limits. Most of it isn't, however, and that's where a lot of the people who lived in Shreveport are moving to. Provenance, as far as I know, will always be outside the city limits. There has been talk in the past about building a school and post office and having Provenance become an incorporated town. If the residents of Provenance do decide to petition and incorporate, I don't think they'll have any problems. I'm sure they'd much rather live in the charming small suburb of Provenance, Louisiana rather than the city they fled, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Thanks for those pics. The TND's look nice. I really like the 2-story houses with the balconies, that's the way to go. After seeing Provence site plan, that's a HUGE looking suburban development.

The SBC Forum is really "Rockin' & Rollin", that's great to see! The BR Forum is busy catching some ZZZ's, a dead-zone.

Yeah the 2-story houses are nice, and look great around the water's edge. No doubt most of this development will be composed of 2-story homes because of the lot sizes.

As far as size goes, as long as it goes as planned, Provenance should be home to some 10,000 residents before all is said and done.

You guys usually have a lot going on over there... I'm sure it's just a cycle like on the main Louisiana board. There are some days I come to this board still and wonder why it's dead. In cases like that I try to find something to get the talk going again. We've finally got quite a few members over here, so it's definitely picked up.

I haven't been out there in a good while, mainly due to that area's distance from where I resided. It's a nice part of town.

If they do incorporate, it's only a matter of time before they're engulfed by Shreveport, if it's where I think it is. Hopefully they won't be bought up by investors and rented out too, like they are here in the San Antonio suburbs

I got some photos of Island Park today, which I'll try to post some of later.

I have to do a little Photoshopping on a couple since I have dust on my camera's sensor.

Thanks for posting those, they look nice. I like the variety in the architecture. I like the street names too. Mixed-use is where it's at..are the condo's in that first pic also part of Island Park?

Yeah the architecture is a mixture of French, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and West Indies architectural styles. In that first photo what you're actually seeing are the Island Park luxury apartments, and in the third photo you can see the Riverwalk luxury apartments which are right next door. I also have a photo or two where the Champion Lake luxury apartments are visible as well, since they're off on the other side of the property.

The actual Island Park condos have yet to begin construction; sand is currently being pumped in from the river to build the site up, the same way the entire Island Park site has been done so far. Once enough river sand has been pumped in, they can move further. Originally they'd planned a condo tower but have decided, instead, to go with a more sprawling low-rise condo complex.
