Shreveport-Bossier City Photo of the Day

Recommended Posts

Not my photo!! But a very nice one I recently found in an online Shreveport-Bossier photo contest. A very dramatic evening sky overlooking the Louisiana Boardwalk, Margaritaville, Sam's Town, and Eldorado along the Red River... Shreveport-Bossier riverfront.

A different type of angle. Once again, not my photo... if I knew the photog I would give credit where it's due.

Looking up Texas Avenue at night, from the Texas Street Bridge to the church at the end of the road.

I wanted to mention this while I was thinking about it.

The old Doctors Hospital, which stood for decades as a fixture in downtown Shreveport, next to I-20, finally closed down a few years ago. Then, Willis-Knighton purchased it and added to their local hospital lineup as a rehabilitation hospital.

Here are some BEFORE and AFTER photos... I think they did a great job raising this place from the dead and modernizing it.

Ran across this photo... for something different.

Stoner Skatepark (that's the real name, named after Stoner Avenue which crosses right there). It was featured a few years back on an MTV show where they rebuilt it to make it a better skate park. Not sure if this photo is before or after. It's right next to the Stoner Boat Launch and the newly opened dog park. When the river floods, you can even fish from the sidewalk at the skate park.

Mardi Gras in Shreveport-Bossier. Hey, who says NORTH Louisiana can't party Mardi Gras style!? This scene stretches for MILES from downtown Shreveport, down the Clyde Fant Parkway, then onto Shreveport-Barksdale Blvd, where the party gets WILD. Finally, it ends near the duck pond on Kings Highway. What a party!!

Here's an mage I just put together. I took an imaginary hotel concept I designed in AutoCAD recently and placed it in a Google Earth image. Then I added a nicer sky for dramatic effect.

Love it Brian!!  Wish i knew how to do that!   Always thought  it would look cool for Shreveport to get a new High-rise tower between the CBD Skyline & Casino's along the Riverfront :shades:

Thanks, man! It's really easy to do actually, just takes a little knowledge of AutoCAD to draw the buildings and Photoshop to put it all together.

Today's "Photo of the Day" is actually 4 rendered concepts of the PROPOSED sports arena and multi-use complex for the New Orleans Pelicans G-League team.

Here is my image. It's the latest building I've designed... another mixed-use concept. Higher end downtown or uptown apartments with a Walmart Neighborhood Market, Subway, Chipotle and a nail salon since those seem to exist in every shopping center ever built.

Okay, here's something I've been working on. It's a "W" hotel on the Shreveport riverfront between the aquarium and the bridge. In reality, this will never happen... but in my mind, it's as good as done! Mixing AutoCAD and Photoshop, this is what I came up with:

Another of my creations. This hotel would be located right behind the Hilton at the convention center, with views of downtown and Cross Bayou.

How did i miss this?? Sorry for not commenting on the Sept 11th mixed-use Rendering....like it a lot!!   You mentioned possibly to locate it in Uptown...where exactly is that in Shreveport??   Looks very similar to the Six story  mixed-use development currently going up in Downtown BR on Sixth Street...4-floors of apartments on top of 2-level parking &  retail on street-level.

Like BOTH possible Locations for your  "W" Hotel too!! :shades:

Thanks Richy. Uptown in Shreveport is a small area south of the South Highlands area, just a couple miles down Line Avenue from downtown. There's a small, old indoor mall there called Pierremont Mall, and across the street is a shopping area called Uptown Center.

I'd like to see something like that either downtown or uptown. Would be nice!

Richy, I've since made some changes to my mixed-use building concept... here's the latest design. I even gave it a name and made a logo for it.

Another image of it... this time placed into an image of downtown Shreveport... I think it would look good on Commerce Street by the riverfront.

And here's an aloft hotel I designed and placed on a couple of empty downtown lots not far from the convention center and a block from Larry Flynt's club.
