Not to brag, but Boston-Cambridge has seen a burst of funky new buildings recently. In addition to the new ICA (pictured in the post above) there is the new WGBH headquarters which, as you might notice, is designed by the same architects as the Clinton Library.

And Frank Gehry's Stata Center at MIT

Also at MIT, Simmons Hall

Thanks to everyone who have shared these sterling architectural gems!

I totally agree---Atlanta's Sun Trust ROCKS!

Seattle's most modern CBD building is easily the new Seattle Central Library. It has a few drawbacks, most notably it isn't real street friendly. It also is just a touch out of sync with it's neighbors. But it is truly an architectural marvel that gets generally good reviews.

It's important to define what you mean by the term "modern." If you mean modern architecture that falls under the International Style moniker, then most of the buildings pictured above would not qualify. Most of the posted buildings would generically fall into the category of postmodernism. A more appropriate term might be contemporary, which implies modern in terms of most current and/or new.

Washington, DC - Polshek Partnership: The Newseum/Freedom Forum Foundation World Headquarters occupies the last available site on Pennsylvania Avenue. Its position between the White House and the Capitol Building in itself is a metaphor for the "Fourth Estate." The mixed-use, 550,000 sf building includes a museum dedicated to the First Amendment and a free press, foundation offices, and residences.

An exciting new mixed-use space in the heart of the district.

Most of these seem to be civic buildings or cultural at least.

Hartford is no different. currently under construction is the CT Science Center. Its mostly steel right now, but this building has all kinds of angles curves and glass lighting. including a 50' screen of glass with images projected on it over the highway.
