Related to the LSU crowd......

I just learned what a flash mob was. I think this could be the beginning of the end of civilization.

BB King will be at the River Center at 8 pm on Saturday. Tickets start at $57.50.

I'd go if I were in town....I thought a couple of UP posters might be interested in one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

I'm impressed with their offense this year so far. I'll have to catch it on TV.

The construction progress on the stadium seems to be going well. I hope they moved the arches to the right place in the final design. I'll keep my eye out for the tower cranes on ESPNU.....being a crane nerd.

Yes indeed...the offense has been clicking so far! Hopefully it continues in the SEC Opener & weather/sloppy field conditions will not come into play with all the rain headed this way...

Good news rain has already past! Hopefully stays along the coast...got 3 1/2" of rain here

This seems like a good deal with how expensive on-site parking has become...

Baton Rouge Blues Festival offers a little bit of everything to everyone

http://www.wbrz.com/news/baton-rouge-blues-festival-offers-a-little-bit-of-everything-to-everyone/

BATON ROUGE - The Baton Rouge Blues Festival kicked off the first day of the annual event on Saturday.

The festival is celebrating its 35th year, and Frank Vine has been to every one of them.

"I've been coming to it since the 80's when it used to be held in August," Vine said. "It's bigger, much larger crowds, and it used to just be one statge. Now it's two main ones and couple small ones."

It's not only the best blues artists in the state coming together, but also a place where locals can come out and support the art community. In the bustling vendor section, local artict Emily Annabelle Kor says festivals like this opens doors for the art community.

The state Board of Regents says the three-day "Meet the Fleet" event will also include interactive displays about marine science.

The Pelican, which is fitted out for offshore studies, and the Acadiana, designed for research in shallow bays and rivers, will be at the City Dock from May 19-21.

Annual Rite of Spring
Experience the MISSISSIPPI RIVER!

The Mighty Mississippi River's annual rise is occurring once again, and downtown is the best place to view this phenomenon! Although the rise is occurring earlier this year, you do not have long before the waters begin to recede with this annual rite of spring. Use the coming weeks to experience the power of the Mississippi River along the levee promenade. You can now access the levee promenade from 3 downtown locations: South Boulevard, Riverfront Plaza, and River Road at Florida Street.

Thousands of people have made their way to the levee to experience the river this past weekend. While downtown, take in some of the riverfront attractions, restaurants, levee path routes for biking, jogging or walking and special downtown events. See links below and join in the fun!

river Rising!
holding back the flood waters!

Now that the Mississippi River will soon be cresting, you can see the water level is higher than the elevation at River Road. Before the creation of the levee system, waters of the Mississippi River would have been controlled using the natural topography of the land. The natural high ground in downtown begins at Lafayette Street. As you travel further north past Main Street the, artificial levee ends and the natural bluff begins.

Experience this engineering marvel along the levee promenade over the coming weeks. You can now access the levee promenade from 3 downtown locations: South Boulevard, Riverfront Plaza, and River Road at Florida Street.

While downtown, take in some of the many riverfront attractions, events, and restaurants. Don't forget that downtown offers many routes for biking, jogging or walking such as the Levee Path and Downtown Greenway.

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, North Boulevard Town Square will be playing Irish music and movies throughout the weekend! See links below and join in the fun!
