High Rise Development in NWA

I've always dreamt if I was an eccentric billionaire that owned a couple companies I'd go into an area that didn't have anything all that tall, and build a 50-60 story tower for my corporate headquarters. Just for the hell of it. I'd also always thought it'd look hilarious being the only building that size in an entire area. I guess that's why I'm not an eccentric billionaire though, I wouldn't be a billionaire for long with that mentality.

Thanks for the welcome everybody. I was recently directed to this forum by my broker. As far as where I heard the rumour about the World Trade Center 40 story tower, an aquantience of mine told me that his boss was on the board of the group that was planning this project. Now how much of this is fact or fiction is what makes forums like this fun to read. :)

There are billionaires all over the world with that mentality. Just look at the United Arab Emirates. It seems like the "place" to show off your wealth by building ridiculously tall buildings in a desert just to make your mark. The only concern would be if there's enough people to fill up a 50-60 story tower here. Granted that a 50-60 story mixed-use with 10 stories of restaurants, services and retail, 10 storeis of office space, 10 stories of hotel suites and 20-30 stories of condos could work here.

if the wtc tower is even atleast 25 stories ill still be impressed, but 40 would be absolutely perfect, and then the race would be on, becauze you know john Q hammons is going to build something realy big next to the embassy suites, possibly another office tower or even an arkansas HQ hammons building, all i know is that i want a 40 story tower now! youd be able to see that from almost springdale.

The land next to the Embassy Suites is an ideal site for a high-rise. I know that part of Pinnacle's old master plan included two 16 Floor mixed-use towers, but the market is getting a bit overbuilt right now, and I only think they're pursuing one tower. I think they're waiting for the Perry Road Interchange to be completed before they come forward with any plans.

Little Rock isn't put up as many but when they do they still put up some taller buildings. I think there was another condo tower mentioned not too long ago for them.

True, but the university seems to be building lower buildings instead of some of the taller types. I also suppose the U of A lawn around Old Main also helps separates the buildings from some of the future Dickson St developments.

I doubt you'll see many tall buildings from the University. There's been a lot of talk among schools about fire safety, and as a result most major University (not Arkansas, in general) buildings I've seen built in the last few years haven't exceeded 4-6 stories. I think it's a bit dissapointing, and I wonder what the UofA will do when they finally decide to retire some of their 9-10 story dorms they built in the 60s.
