Your favorite businesses that add to Charlotte's "soul"

This might sound like ancient history:) but in the 1980s there was a bar-be-que restaurant Uptown, the Southern Pig I think it was called. To me, that place defined Charlotte....the food was amazing, the atmosphere wonderful in an old two-story brick warehouse. If my memory is serving me well, I think it was located somewhere near the present day Panthers stadium. When I found out it closed, I was saddened. Does anyone else remember this place?

Crynot, I hate Bobby Flay. Crybaby. BTW -- Did anyone hear Tony Bourdain will be at this year's Charlotte Shouts? Maybe he'll multi-task and do an epi of No Reservations here. I love Tony. I am his official stalker.

Favorite places... 9.99 Exchange, The Penguin, Overseas Market, Namaste India, International Newsstand, Pho98... There are so many places! I love the areas around South or Ind. Blvds. That really old shopping center off Park and Woodlawn -- Park Shopping Center? Plaza Midwood... Most of what's great about Charlotte isn't found Uptown.
