Neat building.  

I think the next skyscraper in Baton Rouge will not be the city's tallest, and it will be a hotel unless Bown and Root expands rapidly.

^ Brown & Root doesn't have to be Taller than the 450'ft State Capitol...just needs to be Taller than the (2nd Tallest)  310'ft One American Place

Really like Lafayette Street...it has some nice potential ....wonder what ever happened to the Lafayette House condo development??

Wanted your opinion (mentioned in other thread/aricle in BR Business Report) about BR possibly re-visiting height limitations??...the story was vague; maybe a survey will be given to downtown business owners about there opinion.  >>>  Fact is nothing in BR has been built over 12 floors since the late 80's...that's too long...& implementing a height limitation in the CBD/Riverfront would be a major step backwards...& BR's Tallest Buildings 1932, 1974, 1968 says a lot...other similar cities continue to go more "Vertical" with some sleek looking towers

For the record... stoked as anybody abt all of Downtown's progress the past 15 years...and a fan of all the different buildings 5 to 12 stories  / Shaw Center for the Arts is one of the best things to happen downtown; like the contrast w Old State Capitol; North Blvd Town Square is cool ; Onyxx nice addition to Arts Block,...further down Lafayette St IBM Block is a great anchor, II City Plaza & Courthouse in the CBD.... from the ground up/or redeveloped like Commerce Bldg; 440 on Third w Matherne's & new hotels etc.....Capitol Park was also one of the best things to happen

The soon to be Iconic Structure at the Old City Dock of the Water Campus; just south of the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge

The building will be headquarters for The Water Institute of the Gulf, and a research and interpretive center. It will be located on the historical Baton Rouge City Dock that was completed in 1926. The 33,000-square-foot, $22-million building will consist of an interpretive gallery, exhibit areas, offices, research labs and meeting and conference facilities.

A green space and a dedicated skatepark under the bridge (there's already a makeshift one there) would be awesome.

Does anyone know what's up with the creepy bronze and steel statues downtown? I figured it's either some sort of abstract racial commentary or alchemical ritual. I'll post pics when I get a minute.

I've heard about these but haven't seen them until now. Definitely seems racial but I could be wrong. Oftentimes art is about how you see it and not the artist.
