Thankfully (Sub) Tropical Storm Cristobal had minimal effects on SE LA earlier a couple of weeks ago.  Grand Isle had some higher water than expected. The BR area was fortunate to stays on his West "weaker" side.

This is always interesting....make for some pretty sunsets too...

Not sure why it says "Plaquemines Parish".....this strong EF1 Tornado started in the Essen/I-10 area & traveled NE near Airline/I-12 to near Sherwood Forest Blvd/Old Hammond Hwy ...A little too close for comfort!   WBR Parish also had Tornado

The National Weather Service confirms a tornado moved through the Westminster area in EBR Parish Wednesday, June 24.

Hurricane DELTA down to CAT#2 (105 MPH)  headed toward SW Louisiana.  Lake Charles was hammered by CAT#4 Laura...now look to take an indirect hit pretty soon...the Center should veer right toward Jennings/Crowley; hopefully leaving LC out of the front right quadrant of the Eye Wall. But still look like 80-90mph gust still possible.

Unable to post Satellite from last night; DELTA  a face!  My brother said it looks like an evil turkey!

BR Area / north got a surprise tropical deluge last night 6-7" of rain!  (2 - 4" per hour!)

Aug 27th .....CAT#4 Laura hammered SW La/ 134 mph wind gust in Lake Charles ...even 86mph wind gust as far north as Alexandria

Sept 15th ...CAT #2 Sally .....Faked out Louisiana..& turned toward Gulf Shores AL/Pensacola FL

Oct 9th ......CAT#2 Delta

A Strong Fall Cool Front is expected toward end of the week....should not water temps down even more near the coast...& put a major dent in the rest of Hurricane season.

Well...the Strong Cool Front was short lived....didn't cool the northern Gulf waters enough.

Here comes a strengthening @CAT#2 hurricane ZETA w 100mph Winds = Very impressed this LATE in the Season!  Only CAT #1 Juan way back in '85 made a LA "Landfall "  this Late (Oct 29th)

....Moving Fast NNE @ 20MPH as approaching strong Cold Front helps this race up lower spine of Appalachia by tommorrow!

HEAD's UP!   Grand Isle; SE LA; NOLA; Northshore; MS/AL Gulf Coast for a Major Wind Event!

I was listening and watching New Orleans radio and Biloxi tv and everyone on Monday said this storm would weaken as it reached the coast.  It did the opposite it strengthened and sped up.

Louisiana was hit hard this year.  Problem with the gulf once a storm gets in there the only hope is it weakens.  On the east Atlantic coast we have them sometimes go out to sea and become fish storms.  But in the Gulf that is not an option unfortunately.

THANK YOU So much for posting this KJHburg! Can't believe I'm just now seeing your post on Nov 5th for some reason!  Not used to any replies what has become my own personalized WEATHER THREAD LOLOLOL!

Very True about the Gulf vs. the Atlantic!

Crazy busy season!  ZETA changed the Rules forever being a CAT #2 that far West that late in October!  But can't believe they called MARCO a landfall...when it was barely a naked Tropical Depression @ Landfall.

Louisiana has NEVER had a Hurricane make  Landfall in "November" (though it came close a few years ago)...this is 2020....former Hurricane ETA that pounded Honduras/Nicaragua ..now turning across Cuba; into the FL Keys / eastern Gulf next week..should hopefully only bea Sub Tropical Storm at best if it gets anywhere near....Strong Cold Front earlier this week helped cool the water more

cone graphic

Here were the Wind Speeds from Hurricane "ZETA"...Bayou Beinvenue (not shown here) was the Highest Recorded Wind Gust (east of NOLA) w 112 mph gust according to Weather Channel .

Looks like there was a tornado outbreak in the Palmetto area this weekend.

Yeah i'm afraid so.  I enjoy the Weather and fascinated by the storm systems. But not when it cost life.  That was a low end  EF3 Tornado i think...Winds 140mph??

https://www.katc.com/news/st-landry-parish/st-landry-parish-declaring-state-of-emergency-after-tornado-request-damage-reports

Had some damage in SE BR too...near the Fairgrounds ; actually closing  Airline Hwy near Highland Road

https://www.wafb.com/2021/04/10/overnight-storms-lead-road-closure-power-outages/

Not a Tornado...but possibly a straight line Wind near 100 mph? Also  toppled 18 wheeler....
