An article in the Courier-Journal today reported that the busy 3rd Street Westbound I-64 Exit would be closed by 2020 under approved plans to rebuild "Spaghetti Junction". A new exit would be gained at River Road.

Issues raised are the impact of the new exit setup on the new arena after 2020, traffic flow into and impact on Waterfront Park, and downtown workers commuting into the city daily.

Very interesting article, it is a ways off (2020) but from what I have heard of Spaghetti Junction, any improvement should be more then welcomed even if it means eliminating one exit and creating a second one.
