Women and Infants Hospital

4 posts in this topic

Seems like we have a few doctors on this board, so I figured I'd ask for some thoughts on WIA hospital. My wife is pregnant and we live in Providence, so I assume that is the hospital to go for the delivery. Does it have a good reputation, etc.? Thanks...

the local buzz (working in a pharmacy) is that R.I. hospitals are for the most part just getting better and more efficient. I hope this trend continues

In short, it has an outstanding reputation that is well deserved. I've done some rotations there and have been extremely impressed. Even outside of Ob/Gyn, they have some great staff in some internal medicine areas as well (general internal medicine and gastroenterology in particular).

Quality coverage outside of their Ob/Gyn expertise can get a bit spotty, but they have the Rhode Island Hospital specialties available for consultation in those fields to plug the holes and it generally works well.

All in all, I wouldn't have any hesitation using the hospital for the delivery.

Thanks for your professional insight, Garris. Sounds like an excellent hospital.
