It looks like the hotel has exterior lighting along the lines of the new tower in Mobile. This week I've seen flashing red and green on the crown and full illumination of the northern main entrance side. Has anyone else seen the light testing going on?

Public spaces in the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa at the Convention Center will be decorated with works by Alabama artists, thanks to Nall Hollis. Working with David Bronner, Nall hopes to give many Alabama artists exposure by exhibiting their works in RSA hotels and convention centers.

The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center will open in stages, beginning February 1st. The hotel opens first, followed by the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre. The new hotel features almost 350 rooms, 18 meeting rooms, the 14,000 sq ft Alabama Ballroom, the 1,800-seat Montgomery Performing Arts Centre, a convention center with 75,000 sq ft of meeting and exhibition space, a rooftop spa, and a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

The hotel plans outside light shows, featuring strips of LEDs with millions of color combinations, for holidays and other events. Among the pre-programmed colors are the school colors for Alabama and Auburn.

Today's Advertiser included another article about the Alabama art that will be displayed in the new hotel. Spaces throughout the hotel will feature pieces from about 300 works that the artist Nall selected for RSA's permanent Alabama art collection.

The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center is now open for business! I've definitely noticed more foot traffic in the area since the opening. Hopefully this will still be the case once the newness of the place wears off.

The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center announced the elimination of 59 jobs because occupancy was not as high as anticipated as companies cut back on business travel. Nice hotel and event venue, but it came online at a bad time. Hopefully the national economic downturn won't last long.
