They seem to be moving quicker in the trade/Tryon area of tracks than out here in Gateway. Hopefully it’s a sign of mounting pressure to get this project done.

They are... they need to have the city shining during the RNC, so the road, track and sidewalk work has to be done by summer!

No

But in this picture it looks clearly like there are 2 lanes on either side of the tracks.  Is this only temporary?

The street is wider near 77. The pavement markings aren't yet finished.

Anyone know if the city will blanket rezone parcels TOD along the GoldLine like they did the BlueLine?  Would that make any difference in the quest for new development along the StreetCar

The City has TOD-like zoning in UMUD and PED along CityLYNX.

Once Phase II of this Line opens towards the end of this year that’ll bring to Charlotte’s total fixed Rail Transit System to 23.3 Miles Total.  That’s fairly impressive but hopefully the total mileage will be doubled to 46.5+ Miles by 2030 once the Silver Line and BLe-E (Ballantyne) are built and come online.

Not too crazy about GoldLine Phase III Extension although I guess it’ll need to be done all the way down Central to connect with a hopefully thriving EMU.  (Eastland Mixed Use).  Not so sure it should be extended any further west though.

^2030 is now less than 10 years away. BL1 opened in 2007. BL2 opened in 2018.  Silver Line is now in design similar to BL2 design 5-10 years ago.  Thus, completing Silver Line by 2030 is possible, but additional local match will need to be decided by area voters by at least 2022. Plus, New Starts or a similar 50%+ program will need to survive the next federal transportation authorization.

Those far dates make me so depressed lol. Wish it were now. But I also hope that when the streetcar extension is done or before it’s done that the city more dense development starts to be announced like how when the BL was building built.
