Here is another pic of the work that has been done to the building on the corner of Randolph and Sharon Amity.

This building is apparently owned or being built for Sonic Automotive. What a great improvement to the area.

Anyone know whats going on with the Wendy's on the corner of Sharon Amtiy and Randolph? The Wendy's is closed and gutted and now construction is going on to add to the roof of it.

I heard a rumor of Krispy Kreme but am hoping thats not the case.

Various news articles stated that a KK will be located at Sharon Amity and Randolph by the end of the year. I don't see any other available space around that intersection for a KK to be build from scratch so maybe that Wendy's could be the new KK.

There has been a sign in front of the old Wendy's for a little bit now and it will be a KK. I don't mind this too much. It will add at least a little bit of variety regarding retail/eateries in the area.

Books a Million is closing at Cotswold.  The space has already been leased by Cost Plus World Market.  BAM will close in March and World Market will open in the 3rd Quarter.

I guess it is part of the general rapid decline of big box book stores.

 

 

In theory, the race to larger super stores for products are now trumped once and for all by the internet for products that do not require immediacy or sizing.   I do hope, though, that for some type of products, that it will allow for reentry of smaller scale mom and pop shops.

There's evidently been a strong uptick in new independent book stores as Borders, B&N and BaM have retreated

Used/vintage book stores still make it, for how much longer is anyone's guess, a new generation of "what's a book?" only getting older.

Cotswold Village has three new tenants: World Market is taking the Books a Million space, Carter's is moving into the former Rack Room Shoes, and Smashburger will open in the former First Federal Bank/My Townhome office on Randolph behind HT (horrific location in terms of ingress/egress).

Agreed, Smashburger is some good eating (even if it is a chain).  Still, that spot is going to be a disaster in terms of getting into and out of.
