Quinnipiac's new campus

One of the more interesting development stories coming out of Connecticut is Quinnipiac University's rapid growth. No longer a sleepy cluster of brick buildings, Quinnipiac, located about 8 miles outside of New Haven, is now the most popular private college for Connecticut applicants - receiving over 11,000 applications last year for just 1500 freshman spots. The school is now expanding to a new campus. Perched on a bluff overlooking Long Island sound and Sleeping Giant State Park, the new campus will feature a new athletic center, 1000 new dormitories, a student center, and a graduate medical campus. The athletic facility is the first component of the campus, is well under construction and ahead of schedule, and should open as early as the end of this year.

I think this is great news. Attracting more student to colleges and universities that are close to CT's urban centers is key as hopefully these colleges will bring students into the city, get them internships in the city and hopefully get a job in the city.....so they wont move out of CT when they graduate. On the same note hopefully these students will take advantage of the musuems, nightlife, etc. that these cities have to offer.
