Life Outside the Loop: Part II

as our photo journey continues, this time mainly focusing on the SouthEnd area...

This building houses retail on the bottom (Carraba's, Quizno's, Golf USA, a night club) above the retail is office including a radio station...you can see the DJ booth from the street. The shorter building in the foreground has retail on the bottom and residential on top.

From the same spot on South but turning the other direction, this is what you see...

The Factory South Condos in the foreground which used to be a Lance Cracker Factory...and behind it is the new pink Arlington Condo tower.. on further down the street is an Carriage house that houses an eye doctor..next to that is News14 Carolina, and then the Summit Grandview apartments...

Going back down South Blvd and then over to Camden Rd....

The Design Center is a collection of old warehouses that has been refurbed into a mix of offices and retail.

Pike's Soda Shop is an old fashioned restarant where you can get ice cream floats, they also have a really good Sunday Brunch. In the background you see the Camden Square water tower...that is where Spahetti Factory used to be.

Behind the Design Center is a new development of warehouse style office condos.

And one last pic...these are some new condos under construction on Camden Rd on the trolley tracks...called the Kingston.

Those were great!!! I'm enjoying seeing something other than downtown, even though they're awesome, I love street shots and stuff of outside the loop.

excellent shots- i hope you have more! by the way 3030 south site is cleared and foundation work seems to be starting soon, office depot's steel structure is up, and the development across from atherton looks a little busy. south end is still booming.

Excellent shots from both sets of pics! :-) Umm just wondering..does Charlotte have any warehouses that have been turned into lofts, like in other cities around the country?

Yes there are the Factory South Lofts...and the Atherton Lofts....there are also a few warehouses off of Morehead being turned into Lofts.

Great pics - both parts I & II. It's good to see that some of the older parts of Charlotte are being preserved, and good to see smart urban development outside the loop.
