Country Music Marathon Photo Extravaganza!

There was a pretty cool event in Nashville yesterday morning which provided an opportunity for me to snap a few (hundred) photos unhindered by pesky automobiles.

I wanted to get a photo of the lead runners but it took forever to find a parking spot and by the time I got to the starting line they were long gone, never to be seen again.

Mayor Do-Nothing as he's so affectionately called by some here.

I had to skip ahead to the gulch, I couldn't follow the race as it went down Division.

I would have liked to cross the street at some point to get some shots of the

residential and restuarant stuff in the gulch but I was also leary of getting in

somebody's way and causing a bad accident.

The race exited the Gulch and took a right on Charlotte then left on 10th. You

can see the hill they've been running up. Can you imagine if they had to keep

going up Charlotte? I wonder if San Fran has a marathon?

A little downhill respite.

Elvis showed up to offer some encouragement.

Whew, I made it across. These people had been running for miles, I ran across

the street and had to take a break.

At this point the full marathoners continued up 8th ave. to Metro Center while

the half marathoners hung a roger on Jefferson then cut through Bicentennial

Park.
