After coming through Bicentennial Park the 1/2 Marathon went left on James

Robertson and followed that around the north side of downtown to the Woodland

St. bridge. The full marathoners after having made it through Metro Center and

beyond reconvened with the rest near the new courthouse complex.

The course went right on 5th St. and all the way to Shelby Bottoms Park then

back around finally to the Coliseum. By this time I was hell of tired so I went

right on Shelby ave. and headed to the finish line. I still had to walk back

to my car, which was parked at Elliston Place.

From the news reports I heard, said that the Nashville marathon is now the 3rd largest in the US. Had over 23,000 runners and grew over 27% from last year till this.

Nashvillain, you know you have to take pix next year for the marathon after this.

Wow! I knew it had grown into a big event, but I had no idea it was this big.

Great pics Nashvillan! I had the pleasure [or..pain actually] of running the Marathon. Great event, and I'm proud to have this one as my "home marathon". Anyway, as we made the turn from division into the gulch, a few out-of-town runners were commenting how run-down the area was. That's when i piped up and pointed out the locations of all the new/upcoming developements. I got to be a running tour-guide for a while -- until they split off to the half-marathon. That was fun. That area will very cool to run through next year.

I had the opportunity Saturday afternoon to show a guy visiting from Knoxville all that was happening. He use to live here and had not been back since 1999. He was blown away. This is an exciting time for us. Just wait till next years marathon and then they will see cranes up all over town and know we are on the move.
