This has been around for a while and now it will finally start becoming a reality.

It will cost $1,800,000 and will include 400 signs total by 2005.

Downtown's NEW DIRECTIONS

Large signs will help motorists and pedestrians find way around city

Navigating downtown Kansas City will get easier this spring when directional signs to attractions start to appear and bothersome one-way traffic disappears.

Installation of nearly 200 signs along city streets and interstate highway will begin in April. These large signs will direct motorists to various downtown districts and destinations.

By late 2005, the estimated 400-sign, $1.8 million project will expand from the city's central business district to outlying areas, including the Truman Sports Complex on the east, Kansas City International Airport to the north and the Country Club Plaza, Westport and Swope Park destinations to the south.
