Will Columbia Place Mall/Area survive?

I'm going to call some of the shopping center owners for Decker Blvd to see if anything is lined up to open. The press gives Decker such bad publicity saying that the area is dying because of the Village At Sandhill and the 10000 block of Two Notch. Yes it's lost a lot of big boxes, but if you notice many of the holes have been filled pretty quickly.

O'Charley's moved further down Two Notch - Sticky Fingers Replaced it

Charleston Crab House chose Columbia Place Mall area

Pier 1 moved further down Two Notch - Hines Furniture replaced it

Old Navy is opening a new location at Sandhill - The Columbia Place one will remain

Michael's Arts and Crafts moved further down Two Notch - Dollar Tree opened a superstore in it's place.

I don't think they've given up on leasing the area. THere are still many brands out there that Columbia doesn't have that could easily relocate to the area. With a few phone calls I'll have an update.

Did anyone attend or have contacts with anyone who attended or held the DECKER BLVD AND WOODFIELD PARK PUBLIC MEETING?

I didn't attend this meeting, but I did stop in Columbia Place when the consultants hired to look at the Decker Blvd corridor were there (they spent a week in the mall inviting the public to stop by to see what they were looking at and to take suggestions). I'm also part of the Sheriff's Dept advisory committee for Region 2 as are many residents from the Woodfield Park area so we discuss this often (and, meet on Decker Blvd at Zorba's restaurant). They have some good things planned for this area, it will take several years before it's all complete, but money has been slated for the revitalization of Decker Blvd by Richland County .... contact Michael Montgomery of the Richland County Council for more information ... things ARE looking up!
