Film production in SBC

Recommended Posts

You never know... New Orleans' Mardi Gras is a huge draw.

And Mr. Brooks is still in production through this month I believe. I've been wrong before, but I believe that to be true.

You were correct, Nate, Mr. Brooks has wrapped up. It wrapped 17 hours before Costner's concert.

Just updated late today, Antonio Banderas and Annette Bening will shoot a movie in Shreveport, beginning in October, called "Homeland Security." According to the following source, this is based on a book and has nothing to do with the US Government's Homeland Security Agency.

Unbelieveable! Shreveport has really solidified itself has a major movie production hub... and not just of Louisiana, but nationally. I know they converted expo hall into a soundstage, but are there any projects online to bring further production infrastructure to the area? I remember vaguely about someone near the port who was planning a state-of-the-art soundstage and post-production facility. Any news on that and/or others?

Nevermind I just answered my own question. I found this article from last week in the Times that covers it:

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.d.../1058/OPINION03

Wow man, you have a great memory. I forgot all about that story!

In related news, the 750,000 gallon "wave tank" used in The Guardian was to be demolished, but yesterday a LLC made up of two men in the film industry purchased the tank and 18 surrounding acres, just off the property of Beaird Industries in south Shreveport's Slack Industrial Park. One of the men involved was producing a movie about Hurricane Katrina when he discovered the tank.

A trailer has been released on Yahoo! Movies for the new movie, The Guardian, which filmed in Shreveport a few months back. It's hard to believe these amazing water scenes were filmed in a relatively small (250,000 gallons) water tank. The movie opens in September, and you can guarantee I'll be there to see it.

I just found this, it's the website for StageWorks, the soundstage in Shreveport.

And if you click on Studio Complex Specs it has photos of the facility as well.

I saw this recently too. You know, I can't possibly think of a better use for the old Expo Hall than a production studio. What a great idea that was!

I agree! I had to make a pit stop on my way home from work this evening, so I just rode the Parkway all the way into downtown. It had been less than 1 week since I was down there last, but already they have made huge changes to StageWorks. All their signs are now up and they have trimmed the trees out front. Personally I think they trimmed the trees too much, as they look a little funny, but they did increase the visibility of their building tremendously by trimming those trees. And their signage looks awesome... definitely a top-notch operation. Now, if they'd only paint that old, drab brick building white, off-white, or sand... anything.

I can't believe a hotel staff member recommended Shoney's as a place to eat to Ethan Suplee! What about the culture people?!! :shok:

Ethan Suplee, one humble elf, finds local flavor

Holy cow, man, you've got to get out of my head!! Seriously, I was on my way to post this story... on this very thread... when I found this!

It's a great story, and yeah I was surprised when they said that about Shoney's as well. Uh... no!!

woob -

If you see this before Thursday... I believe that's the day the premiere is set for the movie The Guardian down at Regal on the Boardwalk. Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher aren't supposed to be there (total bummer) but one of the actresses from the movie is. They're supposed to have a full red carpet event.

Anyway, if I can slip away from the office in time, I might make it down there to photograph the event. Have you considered heading down there? If so, let me know... like I said I'm going to try to make it.

Yessss! Filming is supposed to begin in '07 on a film starring Samuel L. Jackson! No real information is given about the movie, other than the fact that it's called The Cleaner.

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.d...NGNEWS/61018014

I checked IMDB and only found one movie called The Cleaner, but it's listed as 2006 and doesn't have Samuel L. Jackson as the star. It could be the same movie, just not updated in IMDB's database.

Well, it's official. Samuel L. Jackson WILL be in Shreveport filming his next movie, The Cleaner. This movie is being produced by the same company who is currently filming Homeland Security with Antonio Banderas and Meg Ryan. It's also the same company who will be filming Blonde Ambition with Jessica Simpson in Shreveport next month.

I have a little more information about some of the movies being, or that already have been, filmed here.

Premonition, starring Sandra Bullock - wrapped filming in Shreveport-Bossier and Minden earlier this year, scheduled for its theatrical release in March '07. Looks like an interesting movie from the trailer.

Click here for Sony Pictures' webpage about this movie.

The Cleaner, starring Samuel L. Jackson - filming to begin in January. Apparently it's a thriller in which Jackson is a crime scene cleaner. Sounds interesting, to say the least.

Factory Girl, starring Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce - wrapped filming in Shreveport-Bossier earlier this year, has been the cause for a lot of controversy. It's the story of Edie Sedgwick, who starred in many Andy Warhol films in the 60s. Musician Lou Reed, who was friends with Sedgwick, has bllasted the film by saying "I read that script. It's one of the most disgusting, foul things I've seen - by any illiterate retard - in a long time. There's no limit to how low some people will go to write something to make money."

Theatrical release date is listed as December 29.

Blonde Ambition, starring Jessica Simpson - can't find anything about this movie yet.
