Locals witness everyday life of stars in Shreveport:

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.d.../612100307/1004

A quote from the above article...

Gibbons noted a lot of stars have stayed in Southern Trace. It has become pretty ordinary to see them out and about, and residents treat stars like other residents. "When they are on their free time, I want them to enjoy it."

I wish I could afford to live in Southern Trace! :) I've never considered myself a "star struck" person, but I'd like to live in a neighborhood where it wasn't uncommon to see major A-list celebs - in Shreveport of all places!

A trailer for Homeland Security has been posted on YouTube. Since this movie was actually set in Shreveport, you see a LOT of the city and they don't try to hide it or pass it off as some other place! :)

I'm sure this has been posted already, but here's a trailer for Sandra Bullock's Premonition, filmed here last year. This film opens in theaters in March!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtV_kml1oVg

Both of these look like good movies! Homeland Security appeals to my love for comedies. and Premonition for suspense.

Another suspense film to be made here, The Cleaner, starring Samuel L. Jackson. It should start filming within the month, at about the same time as the DeNiro/50 Cent film, Microwave Park.

Yeah, Shreveport's really getting showcased in the Homeland Security trailer. They specifically mention the RW Norton Art Gallery by name also... is the movie actually set in Shreveport?

Yes, it's actually SET in Shreveport! :)

You'll notice even the Shreveport Police logo isn't covered up, nor is "SHREVEPORT" on the Red River District signage.

Of all the movies made here recently, so far this is the only one to be actually set in Shreveport. The rest have Shreveport filling in for someplace else.

I did a google search and found an article posted on the El Dorado casino website that says Shreveport is actually referred to by name in Homeland Security. The city is going to be completely featured in this film:

http://www.eldoradoshreveport.com/press/sh...ease.aspx?ID=16

Eldorado is a GORGEOUS casino, both inside and out. A $300 million dollar investment, and the perfect setting for a movie. It's the most Vegas-like casino on the Shreveport riverfront, and is right up there with Horseshoe in Vegas-style action and quality altogether.

I was browsing the TurnKey Louisiana website [http://www.tk-la.com/] and under the About Us section there was a bit of information that I hadn't seen before that I thought was exciting:

"...November and December promise to be even busier as a full slate of feature films and television movies are poised to begin filming in Shreveport and New Orleans. Rumors abound about a possible pilot or two and maybe even a cable television series in each city."

Granted the cable series is only a rumor at the moment, but we've all been witnessing the production momentum building in Shreveport. At least 12 features are scheduled to be produced there in 2007 alone... cable/tv series are the next logical step. There's a point I've been wanting to make about the ramifications of all this production in Shreveport. I was thinking that most cities in this country that have been set locations for movies historically (and tv series) are already well-known major cities: LA, NYC, Miami, Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, New Orleans, etc. Has there ever been a city in a position like Shreveport is now? Meaning, suddenly all of this new attention from Hollywood and being set locations for major motion pictures? Could Shreveport gain instant fame nationally from being the new "Hollywood South"? I was really surpised when I found out that Homeland Security was actually set in Shreveport. I think it's saying a lot about the city/region that it is a desirable setting for a film. Because, honestly, it's justs a easy to have Shreveport double as another city, or even "Anytown, USA" (as it has been doing). Hollywood producers, actors, even writers seem to love the area - maybe it because it's somewhere new and different?

Getting back to the cable series possibility, there has been no mention of it being set in SBC, but the possibility is there, especially if it were to be produced 100% in Shreveport. Think about it, how many different NYC scenes or LA scenes can you muster up in downtown until you exhaust them to viewers. It would make sense for a long running series to be set in the city which it's filmed - especially in a smaller city like Shreveport. Maybe not, but the possibiliity is there, especially now that Homeland Security will make Shreveport more recognizable.

What does all this mean for Shreveport tourism, and maybe eventually, new development? Would developers from other states be more likely to build projects in SBC b/c it's becoming more well known? I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

I love even the remote possibility of a series being set in Shreveport! Scranton, PA is the setting for one of my favorite TV shows, The Office. That just proves that Shreveport is just as likely a candidate as anywhere for a series to be set here.

I saw movie trailers for Factory Girl and Premonition this weekend. Factory Girl looks great... I can't wait to see how they pulled off NYC in Shreveport. No recogizable locales from the trailer though.

I've seen the Premonition trailer, but not Factory Girl. Can you post a link to it, Stephen?

Sure, Brian. Great cast... Guy Pearce is almost unrecognizable as Andy Warhol:

Factory Girl Trailer

I don't know if this movie wll get a wide-release. The trailer is only showing in smaller independent film theaters here in Los Angeles. If it does well, maybe!

Wow, you're right. Aside from Artspace, there is nothing about this that says "Shreveport-Bossier." Still, it's cool to know they were able to pull that off by filming here!!

Stephen King's "The Mist" to begin production late Feb 2007 in Shreveport. Here's a link to an interview with actor Thomas Jane who mentions Shreveport near the end of the video:

An article from the Times today:

Lights, Camera - Transmit!

...mentions how the state's new LONI network which set to launch in January may benefit the local film industry and help attract other high-tech industries. According to the article, Louisiana now "has one of the most powerful networks of supercomputers on the planet", and it will help the state become major player in the information economy.

SBC,

I have no acting experience but i thought it would be funny to try out for an extra spot for the new Harold and Kumar movie.

I downloaded the application and had my wife take a picture of me and i mailed it out today.

What's the worst that can happen, they say no?

It might be fun and i hear paid extras make like a 100 dollars a day.

Again,

Might be fun to say i did that.

Haha, sounds cool. You should have taken your photo while wearing one of those goofy Jamaican 'Rasta' hats with the dread locks dangling from it!!

But still, that would be awesome just to be able to say you where in it. :D

WhiteBlox, a digital media company based in The Woodlands, Texas is coming to Shreveport. The three major areas WhiteBlox wants to work with are colleges, universities and community colleges, businesses with national and international potential, and the area's developing film and music industry:
