As many of you may have already known, Bubble Charlotte has closed recently.  That leaves two fairly large vacancies...Bubble & Enso.  Does anyone have any info on potential tenants or some ideas of what could be cool?  I know World of Beer appears to be opening very soon which will be good.  Just trying to think what could work in those large spaces...A new club?  Resturant?  Soft goods?  Some local news network to broadcast from the Epicentre like Good Morning America (always thought Vida would be a perfect spot for this)?  Not sure about Bubble, but I know Enso's old spot could be broken into smaller retail slots if need be.

World of Beer is open. And doing surprisingly well. Epi is circling the drain. It needs $10m in renovations. Ensos old space IS being broken up.

This could be a chance for some legit retail to get into there. As more and more development occurs uptown we could certainly afford to spread out the nightlife and encourage people to actually move around town a little bit. You wouldn't believe how many people have no clue what is beyond the College Street corridor and the area around Prohibition.

On the note of renovations, I feel like the Epicenter is definitely dated, and frankly feels kind of cheap, does anyone know if they value engineered the project? Or if it was only the condo tower that was affected by the recession?

Epicentre is a prime example of VE casualty.  I remember some pretty cool renderings circa 2005 that looked much more interesting, especially on the outer-facing sides. The light rail was not open yet, but it had a decent interaction with the station. I’ll see if I can find those.

At the end of the day, we have the Epicentre as it stands. A facelift would be nice, but likely too expensive to make any dramatic changes. Breaking up Enso could be a very good thing.

I don’t remember that at all. Hope you find it

You don’t? It was stone, metal, brick and a little stucco. It became all EIFS. The train interaction was always implied, never saw a rendering of that portion. I have photos of the model somewhere. I’ll post what I have in my “archives.”

People lament we have no river walk, Etc. Why not be known for our colorful lights on buildings? I feel like we have a pretty colorful skyline compared to most

I remember it was just 10 years ago that our skyline was mostly just single color white lights. Things have changed quickly!

I think it's only a matter of time before that becomes a reality. Like norm said, our expansive light show is still rather new and I would imagine most people outside of the region who don't travel to the city haven't even seen it on full display yet.

If we land the RNC, and it looks like that is a very real possibility, nearly everyone in the country will see it in all its glory.
