First freeway ramp roundabout under construction in Saginaw

i think they are suposed to move traffic more efficiently somehow.

I already said, it's got a Sunoco/Burger King in the SE quadrant and a Flying J/Wendy's in the NW quadrant. I believe it's exit #151 off I-75.

It's more of a traffic calming measure than anything else, that makes it safer for pedestrians on either sides of the traffic circle by slowing traffic.

theres not really any pedestrians in that area though. its pretty rural.

I've never seen roundabouts at interchanges before either, but it makes perfect sense. The only concern that I have is that traffic does not have to stop after exiting the freeway, but rather just yield. Hopefully, there will be a red flashing light at the end of the exit ramps prior to entering the circle or veering to the right.

Last I was out that way was around Halloween and they had both roundabouts half done. My guess is they have them both finished and the ramps in place just needing the final aesthetic touches that I'm pretty sure they said they were gonna have.

Well, I drove under the new overpass today on I-75, but I couldn't tell what was finished or unfinished. The project is still slowing down freeway traffic. ARG!

I just read in the paper that they're hoping to officially open the roundabouts tomorrow.

I'm gonna have to go try it out when I head back to Saginaw over Christmas.

This seems like it would not be a good location for the roundabouts with all the truck traffic.

Yeah, i heard the same thing on the news. Hopefully it really is more efficient. Traffic gets pretty heavy there.

I'm curious to see how semi's will handle the roundabouts since there are quite a few trucking related businesses right off of that exit. They must be pretty large in order to accomodate the wide turning raduis of the trucks.

I drove on it today.

It's silly but it works. I have to admit it's a great entrance to the HOOOOD!! I wonder how the trucks delivering melted aluminum to the GM SMCO plant navigate those things. Unless the plant melts its own aluminum now since the expansion last year.

I tried really hard to do a home for the holidays photo shoot of Saginaw. The weather has been cold annd gross. Any many of my pictures came out blurry. I was too cold to get out of my car, so I attempted to drive and take them. They are all blurry. Although I did take some around downtown for a small project my firm is working on.

Oh there yous is!

It was so cold out when I took this last photo. And it smelled of Rally burgers and fries. A shame I didn't have enough space on my memory card to capture the 50 Young Jeezy Posters on the wall behind me. Yyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaah nah! Thaaaat's Riiiight!

I should also mention renovations of the Jacobson's building are continuing. It will be mixed use. A new contemporary sort of church is moving in, and the rest will be office space I believe.

I alway's liked the building better as a department store though

I suppose when I get time I can make a Saginaw photo tour thread. It will consist of horrible photography though.
