Uniontown

Uniontown (pop. 12000) is one of the furthest reaches of the Pittsburgh Metro. It is located about an hour to the southeast of the city. It is the seat of Fayette County (pop. 145000). It is a city that has seen a long decline. However, things have been changing in Uniontown lately, largely due to 84 Lumber founder Joe Hardy. Millions of dollars have been pumped into a downtown redevelopment initiative. New businesses have located in the gorgeous buildings downtown. Streetscape improvements and landscaping have improved the aesthetics. Uniontown has also been attracting new jobs... like a Boston-based software firm opening a huge new facility in Uniontown.

Uniontown has a fantastic and beautiful location... resting right next to the Laurel Highlands... which offers world-class whitewater, waterfalls, Fallingwater, skiing, and more. Here are a few pictures of Uniontown's beautiful downtown.

I love "lil Washington" (having family in the mon valley that's how we would distinguish if it was DC they were talking about or Washington Pa., no word on how they described what state Seattle was in lol).

Been awhile since I've been there, I have always wondered what W&J was like though. If you take any other pics down there be sure and get some of the W&J campus!

Great pics, love them.

These pictures are of Uniontown... not Washington.

I do however have a few shots of Washington from this weekend... another Pittsburgh satellite on an upward trajectory. Washington should be known to the forumers here as the home of Millcraft/Piatt who are doing the Lazarus Bldg and have a huge plan for Market Square. They also have a 100 million dollar development project going on in Washington.

Here's a picture of Washington's courthouse and beaux-arts skyscrapers.

^^Touche, this is what happens when you have the Wildthings website on a split screen while your replying to a post at work. Now I know how Dan Quayle felt lol.

Good pictures of both south metro counties! Now I have to get back to my SW Pennsylvania geography refresher course ;)
