Woodmont Station

Harris Teeter will be the anchor tenant for a 65-acre development in the works on Fleming Road.

The grocery chain, which already boasts eight Greensboro locations, plans to open its 48,000-square-foot store near the future Urban Loop in early 2008, spokeswoman Jennifer Panetta wrote in an e-mail.

The opening will mark completion of the first phase of Woodmont Station, the brainchild of Wilmington-based Zimmer Development .

Rod Young, Zimmer's director of development, said Woodmont will be a mixed-use project, boasting shops, restaurants, offices and townhomes. It will cost more than $25 million to develop.

Originally called Guilford Commons, the project was approved by the City Council in April of last year, when eight miles of land along the southeastern part of the Urban Loop were annexed into the city.

Young envisions 120 townhomes at Woodmont, selling for between $150,000 and $200,000. He could not provide further details on the size or layout of the units.

Looks like another HT for Northwest Greensboro. But it will include a residential portion, mixed use etc...
