What are some of the best places to have a nice causually elegant Mother's Day Dinner in Charlotte?

I haven't been to Monticello uptown yet, but it looks nice. Otherwise I guess The Capital Grille is nice, but I didn't go on Mothers Day.

How much do you love your mom? That is, how much do you plan to spend?

I think Bonterra would be good, unless she'd be freaked out by seeing an old church altar converted to a bar. Pewter Rose might be good, and the name is very Mother's Dayish.

Mimosa Grill. We went 2 or 3 years ago for their Mother's Day buffett and it was casually elegant.

carpe diem or lulu. lulu is very quaint, but the food is mommalicious. i can't stress "reservations" enough... i would think these places will be full. if your mom is the one responsible for your urban enthusiasm, maybe you could go to bentley's. i'm not sure if they're open but nothing says "mom, i love you" better than chowing down - up in a skyscraper.

Well my family went to Dim Sum on Central for Mother's Day Brunch. It was packed. I LOVE dim sum and that place is just as good as dim sum places I have been to in NYC and Philly.

That place is great. Another excellent place for Dim Sum is in the Asian Mall in the Dragon (I think restaurant). Its a huge place and usually packed.

I had no clue there was dim sum in the Asian Mall although looking back at the sentence and the purpose of the shopping center DUH ME I will have to check it out....thanks for the info Metro . I think its funny that Dim Sum on Central has " we also serve real Chinese food" printed on their menus. I guess people assume they are Dim Sum every day of the week,when they also have a very extensive menu

Well we ended up at Palimino's for Mother's day. Seating was by reservation only which made for a less crowded atmosphere several of the many restaurants we caught view of during the day. We had the opportunity for more intimate conversation. The food was pretty good. I have to recommend the stuffed chicken. All of the flavors within the dish blended very well. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and was able to make sound suggestions. Dessert wise, the warm pear bread pudding was the best. Not that any fo the others we partook of were bad, but the bread pudding stood out. Also if you like chocolate, the torte is worth a try. The food, atmosphere, and service all made for a wonderful meal. O yeah, if you go, be sure to ask for the bread, it comes with a sauce that is just about perfect.
