Thank you very much, gsupstate! Of all the places in Falls Park, I think I love Falls Cottage Garden the most. It is so surreal (by that I mean "near perfect") at almost any time of day/month/year.

I took some more shots of Shreveport's CBD skyline and riverfront skyline this evening, and here's a close-up crop from one of my riverfront shots. How cool is this!?

In the above photo you're seeing an area of the Shreveport riverfront that, as recently as 10-15 years ago, was extremely dark and desolate. There was no nice, new, well-lit riverfront park, there was no neon lighting on the bridge, and there were no casinos, no hotels, and no parking structures. This shot would have shown a very dark area with nothing but a bridge, some water, and a bunch of trees. And as recently as 20-25 years ago, you'd have also seen a bunch of little shacks where vagrants lived. Today, you see a very brightly-lit, vibrant casino district along with a nice, new riverfront park and a neon-lit bridge.

Across the river from this spot is the brightly-lit and lively Louisiana Boardwalk lifestyle center, where once stood a bunch of old, rundown houses, a small church, and a heavily wooded area.

Within the last 10-15 years, but mostly within the last 5-7 years, our riverfront has gone from being a deserted eyesore, to being full of tourists bringing money into the local economy.

This may not have been the best angle, but this was the best I could pull off last night. But at least in this shot you can see some of the Christmas lights outlining the buildings, and you can see the three "wreaths" on the old Civic Theater complex.

A few hours after I took that photo, a train derailed on the ground below where I was standing. There's still a mess on the tracks between Horseshoe Casino and the Boardwalk.
