Very interesting article! Glad to see the bikes are coming back in a big way even in "Motor City". This bodes very well for us Energy independence folks!

I love biking. I used to live out in Portland, OR. That city was truely biker friendly. Here, aside from a few sidewalks that occasionally disappear before your eyes, it's hard to do unless in fairly remote locations. I say, every day should be bike day! Let's move to create logical bike avenues or lanes in the entire region that make some sense and connect to each other. The Motor City is just a nickname. There's no real reason why we couldn't have something like Portland or Eugene Oregon here. For the amounts of money we spend on wasteful Road "improvement" projects, bike lanes or trails could be built at a fraction of the cost. Perhaps we could pool some dough together and market these new bike trails as an alternative. It won't cost much and especially since I'm sure many of us have websites and blogs. I'd help out, anyone else? Peace to you and Peace to Detroit.
