You took the words out of my mouth beerbeer. Rowland did more for Hartford ( a democrat stranglehold) than any democrat has. And he certainly wasn't posturing for votes like most politicians.

It's to bad he did what he did. His political career was really taking off, and there was possibilty of him going national. That's down the drain now.

I truly understand that and appreciate that. I only said that the government does need to regulate these businesses more. I think the government should have more control over the economy is all.

If it's the State of CT government that is looking to gain more control over the economy and regulate business, then this state might as well be out of business. It's been a long time since I seen State government do positive things here. Do you really want them to control even more, because I'll tell you what Hartford and Connecticut will become a ghosttown if we continue to keep adding taxes and regulations to the laws.

I think the feds need to deal with these corporations. People don't want to open their eyes and realize that we are letting them destroy our country. Think about how many American dollars get exported today compared with just 20, 30, or 40 years ago. Before when you bought American, it helped Americans. Now all too often when you buy American you're helping China or the Philipines economy. I just don't get that.

As for CT, we need to be more business friendly, but we are doing pretty good with what we have. CT has way more corporate jobs than we can fill. Our problem really is not getting good jobs for the region, it's filling the ones we have. Hartford corporations often don't even bother to recruit new grads from other parts of the country because they know they won't come here, and if they do they won't stay. My mother told me that Travelers doesn't even recruit in the south too much anymore for this reason. I think if we start turning CT into a better place for small businesses, that would actually go a longer way in helping attract and retain population. Small business owners are what will bring in the shops that you and me both would like to see open up. I am all for tax breaks and ease of doing business for the little guy. I just don't choose to stand up for goliath. They don't need my help.

I don't think it's so much the corporations as it is the government regulations creating that atmosphere. Outsourcing to the third world is the way to win in business... It's much harder to stay in the USA and make simple stuff like shirts and pay good wages when China is so cheap..

Your right CT is doing OK, but we can be doing so much better. If state gov't would just get off peoples backs. I think we are on the heels of another economic boom, we just need the right leadership.

It's the corporations. CEO pay is out of control. That's one of the biggest expenses the company has, that's why they have to outsource and cut benefits. At least if we had Universal Health Care, the corporations wouldn't have to pay for it out of pocket. And we would be a healthier nation and more in line with other civilized countries. But it makes too much sense for America......
