Meijer Gift turned down for naming rights issue

Tonight I took my first walk around Pickerel Lake.

Although not very urban , it was beautiful; well worth the trip.

Of course it exists because of Fred Meijer's generosity. Thanks Fred!

This weekend I was in Osceola county and read through their tourist brochure. Reed City (pop. 2,430) is promoting itself as The Crossroads because that's where the Pierre Marquette and WP trails intersect. Keep it a secret: they even have an attractive, interesting logo for this slogan. http://www.reedcitycrossroads.com/

In downtown Evart I saw quite a few cyclists and users of non-motorized transportation, including a senior on an adult trike. The PM trail goes past a former railroad freighthouse which has evolved into a welcome center for trail users/City Hall/performance space.

Wonder when & where the renaming ceremony/ribbon cutting/photo op will take place? (Fred ought to buy a big chunk of that landscaping company at North Park and US-131 and make us a nice trailhead.)
