Pictures of Van Buren

I thought I'd at least get this topic started. But I may not have time to post all the pics for a day or two. I didn't really stay in Van Buren for very long. I spent most of my time in Ft Smith. But I've heard about their downtown and wanted to check it out. I know the A&M Railroad has trips going from NWA down here to downtown Van Buren. One thing that I noticed about my trip here is it almost seemed like I went through a time warp. Not just the old buildings but a number of other little things. Still a number of the old fashioned barber shops. There was actually an old building where you could go play dominos. Just a number of little things that made me feel like I was in small town America of the past. Anyway here's some pics, including some of my favorite buildings in the area.

Here's some more pics from the downtown area. I basically just mainly stuck to their Main St. Near the end of this group there's one building that has the Anheuser Busch logo built into the top of the building. It looks like a restaurant now. Not something I don't think I've seen before in any of the old buildings I've seen in Arkansas. It was also interesting to see an 'opera house' as well. Although I get the impression it's not used for opera anymore.

Well that's pretty much all I have for Van Buren. I focused most of mt day on Ft Smith. I also really didn't see much info for the rest of the city outside the downtown area. I'm not saying there isn't anything else of interest in Van Buren. But I'm not aware of anything myself.

what is the population of van buren?

I believe it's around 20,000. No offense to Van Buren but I could feel a difference between Ft Smith and Van Buren. Ft Smith did feel quite a big larger and more urban and diverse. Of course it is Arkansas' second biggest city.
