I jut got word that the Villagio Verde project has been called off for the site along Villa Rd. and I-385 that is was planned for. BUT, the developer still wants to do a project of that concept but is looking for a new site that will interest possible retail users more.

Also, signs should go up soon for a new project on that Villagio Verde site. Two "seven story very high end condo buildings" are planned. Much of the site will remain natural.

As much as I feel that this project would have done volumes for that area, I had two main concerns, one being would an italian village be completely out of place in that area, and the second being traffic concerns. In my opinion, it will only be a matter of time before someone takes that 90 degree turn on Villa just a little too fast and goes airborne into I-385. The developers I think are wise to do Villagio Verdae somewhere near Montebello, or at the very least that general area of Greenville. The one thing that I can say though, imagine two seven story buildings up on that hill, and being able to see them from 85. I think that our dream of an city that can be seen from 85 is starting to come to fruition.

Well someone did, a while ago, right into us running us off the road. Luckily we avoided a collision but damaged the car slightly by the road sign indicating the curve. They ran but were followed by a car behind them and caught by the police. There also was a cyclist who remained in the kudzu for months before found.

BTW isn't a 7 story building too tall because of the airport? It's right in the flight plan of GSP (Greenville downtown) and on a hill making it higher.

Why was it called Villagio Verdae when it's not even near Verdae?? This is the Villa road off Pelham site right?

It looks like new plans have come to the Villagio Verde site. They're wanting to change the zoning from one that allows planned development, to one that allows office only.

I'll be glad to see something built on this site. I just hope that the infrastructure in place can handle whatever they are planning.

I'm not sure how I feel about this being an office development. Its probably a good location for office in a traditional sense, but depending on the density and style of development, this could just generate more traffic. Any word on the site plan? is it going to be one larger office building or several small office units?
