What I don't get is how everyone complains about the low wages and lack of benefits. If you took the job, you were obviously presented with enough information to know what you were getting into, otherwise there is grounds for a class-action lawsuit; and Wal-Mart isn't going to foolishly leave itself that open to legal action.

I agree. If you don't like the job leave and find something else.

I worked at a Walmart doing overnight stocking in college ... and I started at 11/hr and was making 11.92 when I quit a little after a year later. hardly a low wage for what you do. Walmart has benefits which really are good when you consider the low level job it is. the company stock purchase plan and the health insurance plan. I hear the insurance is crapty, but what can you expect for such a menial job? Go to the local supermarkets and you don't get the same money, and you get no benefits...

BTW: during the "unlimited overtime" periods during the thanksgiving to new years season, I made decent wages. If you work the holidays you get double time and a half just for working them as straight time. I believe it was triple time time if you worked it as o/t. I only worked 2 summers and 2 holiday seasons and I managed to get bonuses in march worth about a paycheck. all and all, I can't complain about my experience as a walmart associate...
