I think it's one of the nicer buildings in the area, and it's not tacky and/or gothic like a lot of the other Mormon temples. More neo-classical, and I love those windows. Too bad us heathens are not permitted inside. I'd love to see it.

AH-HA! Yeah, I didn't even know about this place until I was looking for stuff to do in the West Valley and found it on, I think, a tourist web site (something like virtualtourist.com). I actually ended up spending over an hour here, and the house wasn't even open.

It's on 59th Avenue south of Peoria, I think.

Prescott!

Prescott's a great overnight trip from the Valley if you ever want to go. The Downtown area is really cool, there's an excellent brewpub and the casino hotel is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in (although the casino itself SUCKED). Speaking of sucking, sorry for the picture quality. I was between cameras at this time.

This is girl's dance troupe of some sort. I stumbled out of the brewpub upon this and apparently gave them my phone number, because I got a call from them two weeks later that they were going to be performing at Albertson's.

makes me want to get back up toward prescott. seems all my driving around has kept me away from the central part of the state these days. i guess it's the intimidation factor of knowing that if i venture up I-17 very far, i'll be facing grand canyon-area gas prices. in williams gas is insane (unless you get away from the interstate and go to the circle k downtown - then it's only crazy.)

prescott is one of the most memorable and distinct of the cities i've been in AZ. nothing else here reminds me of it. nice pics.....

The syntax is "img"yourimage.jpg"/img"

No alt tags. Change the " to [ and ]. You can also use a "url" around it to link to a larger version.

That's a beautiful picture. Something very mystical about the Mazatzal Mountains. I always get a weird vibe when I'm around there.

hey Dustin, for posting pics directly on the page, I suggest flickr, it took me a couple days to figure it out, but flickr sizes down photos for the internet. You have to kind feel around for the url. But once you find it, it's pretty easy to cut and paste it into the picture function in posting.

Superstion mountain is my favorite mountain around, namely because I like to climb to the top. I've become more interested in four peaks recently. Especially after my trip to Payson last weekend. Just how tall is Four Peaks, My brother says over 10k feet, but trust me, we have all learned along time ago to check his sources.

Well, the trip was based from the Sipapu Resort on NM 518 just outside of Picuris Pueblo. I spent a day in Las Vegas and a day in Taos. Also saw a lot of stuff that I have either never seen or haven't seen in a while, like El Malpais, the Zuni Pueblo, Chimayo and Chacon (which wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be).

And, of course, spent some time in Downtown ABQ.

I'm familiar with all of those except for Chacon. Have you ever been to the Acoma Pueblo?

I trust that you got your usual colin pics?

That would be cool to see. :D

I have a weird thing about pueblos. I went to the Acoma Pueblo once, but didn't actually go up to Sky City. That and Walpi in the Hopi Nation are the ones that I would like to visit, although I have actually been to both.

Chacon is a tiny town about ten miles north of Holman in Mora County. On the map, it looked very isolated, but it was actually fairly populous, situated in a narrow valley of mostly horse ranches. I had also hoped to find a hiking trail into the wilderness, but instead drove about 5 miles down a tiny dirt road surrounded by private land before turning around.

Mora County Photos

They include Mora, Ledoux, Sapello, Chacon, Cleveland and Golondrinas.

And, if you're interested:

Nice pics Colin. Nice to see some familiar areas from a different perspective. Did you try any of the food at Chimayo? They have some great tamales at Chimayo. I also stock up on chile pepper spices when I'm over there. Is there any way to get to a main menu on your pics? I've wanted to check out where else you've been but can't seem to get out of each area.
