According to the Arkansas Times the Arkansas Studies Institute has selected a tenant for their vacant ground floor space facing President Clinton Avenue. It will be run by the owners of the River Market Grocery, located across the street. The new business will be a gift shop specializing in Arkansas made products and it will also serve ice cream and coffee.

I have a confirmed tenant for the Rivermarket tower. Dugan's Pub will open in the corner of the main building at 3rd and rock. Will be an authentic irish pub, with a patio wrapping around on 3rd and rock streets. stage for live bands, with many, many tv's....

Hmmm. With an authentic Irish pub in dwntwn NLR and plenty of places to watch TVs or live music in the River Market, it doesn't seem like much of an addition. Could be wrong, though.

New addition to the River Market. Bill Streer Bar & Grill has open just east of the Clinton Store at 614 President Clinton Ave. The owner had just moved the Crush Wine Bar across the river to Argenta but didn't the River Market behind.

Also, just south of Heifer International a new venture will be opening. Rock Town Distillery should open this summer. It plans to use Arkansas products to produce vodka, gin and whiskey.

Another business is opening in the Tuf Nut building. Brown Sugar Bakeshop will be opening up soon. It is presently located in the market hall at the River Market. They make good cupcakes and brownies. A good lunch at the River Market was Pasta Jacks followed by something from Brown Sugar.

Also, Workplace Resource is now open in the River Market Tower. It will distribute Herman Miller furniture. Still waiting for Dugan's Pub to open.

Looking forward especially to how Brown Sugar works in its new location. If memory serves, the shop originally was to open on what was then Commerce Street -- before assuming a spot inside Ottenheimer Market Hall. The more recent plan for space fronting Third Street looks much more ambitious than the first thoughts of a shop at Tuf Nut.

The Central Arkansas Library System is looking into changing their financing in order to provide for new projects. One of the projects is a 350-seat auditorium for the Main Library Campus. Does anyone know about this and would it be new construction or located within an existing building?
