666 Party in Hell, Michigan!

12 posts in this topic

Yesterday the tiny town of Hell in Livingston County had a 666 Party. I went with my girlfriend and some of her friends. There are only 3 stores in Hell, a restaurant, ice cream place (has lots of shirts and other memorabilia also) and a tiny grocery store. The lines were incredibly long waiting to get anything. Way more people showed up then I thought. There had to of been thousands. Here are the pictures I took:

It seems stupid to go to a town named Hell and preach Christianity, did he really expect people to be on his side?

These people showed up infront of the man preaching Christianity:

It seemed like 95% of the people there were carrying around beer so of course you will get people like this trying to start fights:

The whole time this guy was preaching the man in the black shirt was getting in his face and yelling stuff at him. The group eventually moved, they were probably worried about their safety.

Didn't anyone notice that the date was 6-6-06? Not 666.

Hats off to this great little town! It was an amazing opportunity for them and thank goodness they had the foresight to realize it and take advantage of it.

...so was it a fun event or just a crowd of people walking around? I heard that radio stations from as far away as California raffled off trips to Hell for the day.

There was a lot of standing around and just hanging out, it was still really fun though. Everyone there was really nice, random people started up conversations with me. You could get a meal at the inn for $6.66 or ice cream for 66 cents. The party ended at midnight, but since I had school this morning I couldn't stay that late. I heard that they were going to have costume contests and bands playing.

I would have said, "Hi, I'm from Detroit", and they would have said, "Oh, so what's Hell like?"

It's so funny that everyone knows about Hell now. No one believed me whe I'd tell them about it before.

now.... if only they knew the irony of Paradise, MI being on the complete oposite end of the state than Hell! It'd be funny to see something like this there... becase I don't think many people would ever have a Paradise Party.

Now I'll have to think of a catch phrase other than "It will be a cold day in Hell..." or "...when Hell freezes over" :D
