I would have never guessed than only one county in Tennessee has more cities with 10,000 people or more than Hamilton County. It won't be too long until Hamilton gets another, their fifth. I'd say Collegedale could reach 10,000 as early as 2010.

Shelby will get number 6 soon with Lakeland, which is growing fast. Arlington, which is growing very fast, will probably reach 10,000 by 2010 or shortly after. Both towns are located in northeastern Shelby County along Hwys 64 and 70 and I-40. So, all 7 incorporated areas in Shelby County could very be over 10,000 by the next census.

Arlington: 7590 as of 2006

Lakeland: 8011 as of July 2005

Sumner county will probably add White House to that list by the next census and Millersville should not be far behind...Goodlettsville could also be considered Sumner County...

Well about 1/3 of it could be. I went by the actual location of the town hall, not the main population area, otherwise I would have put Spring Hill in Williamson county (which would give it 3), not Maury.

I compensated for that on my list by listing (part**) for each town that was in more than 1 county. 1 of the tiny towns was in 3 (!) counties (Milledgeville, in Chester, Hardin & McNairy Counties).

I agree that goodlettsville should be in Sumner because everyone here knows Davidson/Nashville are 1 entity.

What is the population of Shelby, Hamilton, and Knox counties?

Well, Goodlettsville retains quite a bit of autonomy in davidson county...though, of course, in Sumner County Goodlettsville is a completely independent place.

Goodlettsville is a seperate incorporated place and only uses a few county services (like schools). The city hall is located in Davidson county, so that's where I'm going to list it in Davidson county.

Alright, due to some discussion on where some of these "border" towns are located, I'll make another list including the city in whatever other counties it may be in IF at least 20% of its population is in that other county.
