Last Year's Crime Stats for Charlotte

The 2005 FBI Crime Totals are in and Charlotte didn't fare too well last year:

I'm curious as to why we had such a big spike last year - especially in the Murder column. How has this year been so far? I hope this is just a blip and not a new trend.
