West End Bridge design selected

A design has been chosen for the pedestrian bridge. It sounds like a nice one, and I hope the funding needed to build it comes together fast.

When I read this Gerbil I was encouraged by the fact that they picked a design that kept it simple and used nature as much as possible for the portals on both ends. Too bad there is no ETA on this, could take another 5-10 years to complete, but glad the ball is rollling some.

why are they putting walkways on both sides? That means there will be 4 ways to get over the bridge on foot/bike (new walkway on both sides plus existing sidewalk on both sides). I would like to see one side sacrificed in order to advance the project as quickly as possible. Or build both sides and expand the driving deck to create a barrier between traffic directions. I'm not gonna lie, I get scared driving across that bridge (same with the Liberty, I know people who have been seriously hurt in head on collisions there)
