Louisiana movie production

Awesome. I can pick out 10 of those that were at least partially filmed here. I know of one that's missing, though, and that's "Ruffian" which is an ESPN made-for-TV movie currently being filmed in Shreveport.

Yea, Shreveport is definately picking up its fair share of movies right now as well, which is great to see. All kinds of movies being filmed in both SE and NW Louisiana.

Looks like a good movie. And as a fan of Denzel AND of New Orleans, I'm going to have to see it. :D

Same here, I'm definately looking forward to seeing it. I'd see it just because I'm a Denzel Washington fan, and the fact that the entire thing is filmed and set in New Orleans is just a bonus! :D

Thanks Brian. Always good to see Louisiana in a postive spot light. ;) I don't see the movie industry slowing down anytime soon around here.

I need to try a find out more the latest updates about new movie studios being built. Earlier in the year I heard about many different proposals; but nothing recently. :dontknow:

Very nice! :) Yeah, The Year Without Santa (or whatever it's called) was the last one to film here. It's either still filming or recently wrapped, but since Kevin Costner's productions wrapped things have slowed back down. But still, one or two movies is much better than what we had before all this hit so I'll take it! :) Besides Antonio Banderas is a huge name, so I'm more than excited to have him filming here. Same goes for Annette Benning! Expect the movie Dallas to be filmed here sometime within the next year as well, as long as things continue as scheduled.

I'm glad to see Louisiana is still bringing them in!!

That's good, but none here. :( But I'm sure there will be more once they finish the Celtic movie studio finished. My dad drove me by there a month of 2 ago and they have the main building done or at least the outside. cfffffffffffffus5.png

Think they are uping the studio count from 5 to 7.

I heard on the radio about a half hour ago that the movie Homeland Security is also supposed to star Meg Ryan. They're having an open casting call this coming weekend at the Boardwalk. Anyone interested in being in this movie who is "FBI-type," "police-type," or a professional belly dancer is encouraged to show up. And yes, I'm serious.

Dan, that's a really nice studio set up... complete with multiple buildings like most Hollywood movie production facilities. Hopefully once they get that thing going, the biz will pick back up there. There have been quite a few movies filmed in Baton Rouge, so I'd be surprised if there weren't more on the way.

The first of the major motion pictures to be filmed in Shreveport-Bossier since Katrina, The Guardian, starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher, will be screened tonight in Washington, DC. The official release date for the movie nationwide is September 29.

Here's a little bit about tonight's screening and about the making of the movie, courtesy of Shreveport Times Online:

Homeland Security, starring Antonio Banderas, Meg Ryan, and Colin Hanks (son of Tom Hanks) is set to start filming in downtown Shreveport's Red River District and El Dorado Casino.

That's awesome! Tennessee and Memphis have started to take notice of Louisiana's success at attracting movie production to the state. There's talk of enacting similar tax breaks...

IMO, Louisiana offers more variety in the types of scenes that can be shot in the state. So I really don't think Louisiana has anything to worry about from Tennessee. But ya never know. -_-

One thing I forgot to add... in the movie The Guardian, Shreveport was used as a stand-in for Kodiak, Alaska... in this new movie, Homeland Security, it will actually be set in Shreveport. So it'll be Shreveport starring as itself for a change. :)

Memphis and Nashville would both be excellent locations for movie productions, IMO, as would the rural Tennessee areas. Memphis and Nashville would likely have a lot of the necessary infrastructure and rural Tennessee has plenty of great scenery.

I've got exciting news. I was looking in a local magazine at the doctor's office when I spotted an article about the Celtic Media Centre and it had a full/updated rendering of whole the complex. It showed at least 6 building with a 5 story building in the middle. I'l try to post it today or tomorrow. The article was also good, with Kip Holden saying it would rival other studios throughout the nation/world and that they visited studios used to film shows like CSI and Boston Legal.

I was at the movies this weekend and saw a preview for "Dejavu" starring Denzel Washington and was surprised to see several scenes w/ New Orleans skyline in the background. I had no idea about this movie.

Yessir, that entire movie was filmed in New Orleans. The scene where you see the ferry exploding on the Mississippi River, well, I watched them record that scene over, and over, and over again from the Canal Place office tower at the foot of Canal Street.

Here is the preview, for anyone who's curious. It looks like a great movie, especially considering I'm a big Denxel Washington fan.
