That was a pretty good editorial. It highlighted the corporate benefits of consolidation. Unfortunately, we live in a state in which the common good often takes a back seat to individual rights, so we'll have to see if anything actually comes of this. I really hope so.

You're right. The problem is that most people would benefit more by the consolidation than they realize. Think about having one concerted effort to promote economic growth accross the county, and to guide the physical growth of the metro area. The influence of Spartanburg would grow tremendously, especially when you consider that all other neighboring communities have a similarly disjointed mess.
