Williamston, Iva and Pendleton were recently matched for which stores each minucipality could support.

Williamston could support a Wal-Mart, a Denny's and/or a Michael's. It has easily supported a grocery store when Winn Dixie operated there until last summer when it exited the Carolinas.

Iva is the last of Anderson's small towns lacking a grocery store. SC-81 was recently widened to four lanes some years ago through town. It is surprising this area has been ignored.

What more can Pendleton support? I think they will have a hard time keeping anything except restaurants. As a resident of Central, I probably would not drive down there for anything except that. Also, businesses are more likely to consider Clemson, which is closer to that critical college market.

After Old Greenville Highway (SC-93) is completely infilled, looking southward to Pendleton for growth would be mroe realistic. Pendleton needs to become aggressive in growting to attract more industry, residences, businesses and restaurants.

Yeah maybe so, but how soon will that be... there is a lot of land left.
